August
August was a slower reading month, but big month for us Swifties. A NEW ALBUM & ENGAGEMENT all within this month??!! I’ve never been more happy for my close personal friend. I hope she and Travis live happily ever and her wildest dreams are fulfilled. It’s still hot here and fall is nowhere to be seen, so I am not switching to fall reading or hot coffee anytime soon.
If you missed my summer reading guide you can find it HERE.
August’s Reads & Reviews:
Best Offer Wins by Marisa Kashino (out 11/25): this was such a fun thriller. I devoured it all in one sitting and highly recommend for anyone that’s ever bought and how and considered, what would I do to get the dream house?
East of Eden by John Steinbeck: wow what a huge letdown. It started off strong, but then all the characters blended together and the misogyny was hard to ignore. I know most people loved this book and it certainly is beautifully written, but it was not for me. I am still interested in seeing the Netflix adaptation next year.
The Secret Book Society by Madeline Martin: this was such a unique historical fiction! I have read The Last Bookshop in London also by her and enjoyed these both immensely. They are what I would describe as light historical fiction or give the sense of a Hallmark movie. I would recommend reading while blasting “mad woman” by Taylor Swift.
A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna: the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit! Witches, magic, quirky characters, and a handsome Scottish man blend together for this delightful romance. I would recommend reading if you want to read something Halloween adjacent.
KLR’s Currently:
Watching📺: Survivor Australia V the World, it is so good! And am so glad my friend Betsy recommended it to me. I also can’t wait for the American Survivor to start next month.
Listening🎧: Nice Girls Don’t Win by Parvati Shallow- yes I am really on a Survivor kick, lol
Puzzling🧩: the generous people over at Puzzlefolk sent me some puzzles to work on and a discount code! Use KATIE20 for 20% off and let me know which puzzle you get!

I love PUZZLEFOLK puzzles, thanks so much for the discount code. I’m definitely gonna order the birthday cake puzzle. What a great gift for anyone.
The Secret Book Society def. looks like my type of book! I really enjoyed the last bookshop in London too! So glad you're enjoying Survivor, Australian reality TV is just unrivaled! Haha.
