September
my birth month
another month down in 2025. I was able to escape for one more beach getaway and it was really nice to disconnect. I read a lot this month and will only share reviews for books I enjoyed. Here’s to my 34th chapter!
September’s Reads & Reviews:
Nice Girls Don’t Win by Parvati Shallow: I did audio of this since Parvati reads it herself, I had no idea how many hardships she’s faced in her life already and found her story refreshing and inspiring. I am a huge fan of hers and recommend watching any of her Survivor seasons, especially Australia v World.
Discontent by Beatriz Serrano: this is a translated book which is hard to believe because it captures the American corporate experience so well. I devoured this and couldn’t put it down. If you’ve ever been stuck in a cubicle thinking what am I doing with my life or had to suffer through a corporate retreat standing in a circle sharing your feelings, I’d highly recommend this one.
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst: what a cute little wholesome treat! This was what I’d classify as cozy fantasy. A nice little escape and cute love story.
Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy: this was a beautiful and haunting book. Both suspenseful and an examination of climate change, this one is heart-wrenching but I think many people will enjoy. It is so well written and such a compelling plot, I’d recommend this to most readers. The ending and some plot points near the end made me a little frustrated, but I do overall think while this wasn’t a huge hit for me, it will be a 5 star for most readers.
KLR’s Currently:
Watching📺: rewatching Gilmore Girls as one does at the start of Fall
Listening🎧: 107 Days by Kamala Harris
Puzzling🧩: I recently finished this tea themed one from Galison and it was a blast!
That discontent book looks really interesting! Just placed a hold for it at the library. Thanks for recommending it!
